Fall Crafting Is Here: Fun Fall Craft Ideas to Try This Season
There’s just something about fall that makes me want to make things.
Maybe it’s the pumpkins showing up everywhere, the slightly cooler weather (or what we call cooler weather here in San Diego ), or the fact that the holidays are suddenly right around the corner. Fall is the perfect excuse to slow down, get a little creative, and make your home feel special for the season.
And you definitely don’t have to consider yourself “crafty” to join in.
If you’ve been searching for fall craft ideas for adults or fun fall activities in San Diego, here are a few projects to add to your fall bucket list.
1. Make a Pumpkin Succulent Arrangement
Of course I’m starting with one of my favorites.
Pumpkins and succulents are basically the perfect San Diego fall combination. You get all the cozy fall feels without pretending it’s 55 degrees outside while you're still wearing sandals.
A pumpkin succulent arrangement makes a beautiful centerpiece for your table, porch, or Thanksgiving decor—and you get to play with plants while making it. All you need is a Pumpkin, some moss, a glue gun, cuttings of succulents and any other decor like shells or flowers you’d like to add.
2. Try a Fall Junk Journal
If you’ve been wanting to try junk journaling, fall gives you SO much material to work with.
Think vintage Halloween images, pressed leaves, old book pages, fall colors, postcards, stickers, coffee sleeves, ticket stubs, and little pieces you collect throughout the season.
You can use your journal as a creative outlet or turn it into a memory book of everything you did this fall. There really are no rules—which is part of what makes junk journaling so much fun.
3. Make a Fall Wreath
Wreath making is one of those seasonal crafts that comes back every year for a reason.
You can go traditional with leaves, berries, and warm fall colors or make something a little more modern with dried florals, grasses, ribbons, and natural materials.
And don’t think wreaths are just for your front door. Smaller wreaths can be used as table decor, hung inside your home, or even made as gifts.
Even better? Get a few friends together, put out some snacks, and turn it into your own little fall craft night.
4. Paint Some Pumpkins
Not every pumpkin needs to be carved.
Painting pumpkins is an easy fall craft for adults that you can make as simple or elaborate as you want. Try florals, patterns, funny sayings, metallic details, or colors that actually match your home.
This is also a great group craft because everyone can do something completely different. Put a bunch of pumpkins and paint in the middle of the table and see what happens.
Sometimes the easiest crafts end up being the most fun.
5. Host a Fall Craft Night With Friends
You don't always need another dinner reservation to get everyone together.
Pick a craft, grab some snacks, put on a good playlist, and make something. It could be pumpkin painting, fall floral arranging, junk journaling, wreath making, or even decorating candles.
Craft nights give everyone something to do while you talk and catch up—and nobody has to be an artist.
The same idea works beyond friend groups, too. Fall creative workshops can be a fun option for workplace gatherings, employee appreciation events, community groups, and seasonal team events. Instead of another meeting or happy hour, everyone gets to slow down, make something, and connect in a completely different setting.
